Whether you're tackling the biggest tow-jobs or want something that takes on even the toughest terrain, Ford's 2020 F-250 is the truck for you.
A force to be reckoned with, this year's Ford F-250 pulls out all the stops with options for those not to break the bank, or for those with a little extra to spare.
Customization: The Basics
When it comes to customization and comfort, the F-250 boasts literally hundreds of customization options catering to your specific needs.
First, the Ford F-250 features several cab options. You can select the regular cab, an extended two-door cab (also known as the SuperCab), or a four-door crew cab, which features either a 6.8-foot or 8.2-foot bed length.
Combined with cab options are several unique trims. On the regular cab are the base XL and XLT options.
The XL is a standard workhorse of a truck, boasting options that make it ideal for a company vehicle. While light on extras, it does offer the potential for a 4G LTE connection with a Wi-Fi hotspot. This is great for on-the-go work or granting your job site connectivity.
The XLT offers power windows, locks, Bluetooth connectivity, five-speakers, and an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
Customization: Luxury
If you're accustomed to driving a truck, these options take things to another level.
On the SuperCab, you can go up to Lariat trim, which starts around $48,195. With a healthy balance between cost and features, this model boasts fog lights, an 8.0-inch digital vehicle display in the gauge cluster, 10-way power front seats, leather seating surfaces, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, power side-view mirrors, and an improved Bang & Olufsen 10-speaker sound system.
The Bang and Olufsen sound system includes adaptive volume controls, meaning that the volume adjusts automatically to your drive speed. This is great for the occasional sputter in engine volume, such as when you're accelerating onto a highway with a large tow.
The LED lighting package is a must for this model, making your F-250 look dominating amongst the competition.
Finally, on the Crew Cab you have the marvelous King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited trims, each offering increased luxury and style for your F-250. A King Ranch starts from $60,595 all the way up to the Limited trim at $85,000.
Those higher-end models get leather-trim, soft leather, real wood, satin chrome trim, heated seats, cooled seats, seats that can even offer a massage while towing. Driving one of these luxury F-250s is a treat, with each customizable trim-level offering more and more.
Most models have access to adaptive cruise control and, if you're on the job site or in the woods, you can install a 12,000 pound Warn winch that integrates into your truck's bumper. if you're hoping for a cleaner truck you can also opt-in for easy-clean vinyl mats instead of carpet ones.
Big Stats, Bigger Potential
The price for the F-250 starts at $33,705 with the XL regular cab, running all the way up to $80,220 four-door with the Limited trim.
The F-250's engine performance is phenomenal. Powertrain options are a 6.2 liter V8, the "Godzilla" 7.3 liter V8, 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel V8, with a new 10-speed TorqShift automatic transmission.
Boasting some of the highest numbers in class, the towing range is from 13,300-22,800 pounds with a payload ranging from 3,040-4,290 pounds.
However, the F-250 can max out at 37,000 pounds for diesel gooseneck towing. Fifth-wheel towing comes in around 35,000 pounds and can hit a staggering payload weight of 7,850 pounds.
Driving modes include Normal, Deep snow, Sand, Tow/Haul, and Eco-drive. Your tow limits are dependent on the engine choice and you can choose between rear and four-wheel drive.
The 2020 F-250's horsepower has also taken the lead over 2019's model.
The Big Differences: 2019 vs 2020 F-250
Ford ups the ante in power ratings for both fuel types.
2019 vs 2020:
Max Power Ratings - Gas: 385 horsepower, 430 lb-ft/430 horsepower, 475 lb-ft
Max Power Ratings - Diesel: 450 horse-power, 935 lb-ft/475 horse-power, 1,050 lb-ft
Another addition is the first-ever Super Duty Tremor Off-Road Package, offering numerous off-road specialized features. This package offers enhanced off-road-tuned front-suspension. You get beautiful, 35-inch Goodyear max traction tires and the ability to overcome water fording, up to almost three feet (33 inches).
The best part? It's a steal at $3,975, offering more off-road capability with the addition of some beefy off-road tires and black wheels.
Ford F-250 Super Duty Features
If you're looking at a Ford F-250 Super Duty, you're likely hauling-- and hauling big. One of the best new features in the 2020 F-250 is the class-exclusive Pro Trailer Backup Assist™, a reverse guidance system that shows the trailer angle and direction on-screen, via the reverse camera. It helps cut the guesswork when backing-up and will get you on your way faster.
Because the F-250 is classified as a heavy-duty pickup, it isn't rated for fuel economy under federal fuel economy rules. That being said, the F-250 performs well for the beast that it is, hitting in the high teens while unloaded.
Further, the F-250 boasts supreme with spacious cabins and ultra-comfortable seats. Because of the care put into crafting not only a powerful workhorse but also creating a premium vehicle that feels as good to sit in as it does to drive, the 2020 F-250 is an absolute blast.
And because safety is essential, all F-250s except the base XL trim come with forward-collision warnings, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping alerts, cross-traffic alerts, and blind-spot monitors.
Tackle the Outdoors in the 2020 F-250
Boasting best-in-class towing with a suite of customization options, the 2020 F-250 is indeed a force to be reckoned with. Whether you want an easier tow with the new Pro Trailer Backup Assist™ or yearn for off-road adventures with the Tremor Off-Road package, the 2020 Ford F-250 is a truck unlike any other.
