While pickup trucks used to primarily be for farmers and other workers, this has changed substantially over the last several decades. Even people who never need to load up the bed or tow a trailer love the many features of a pickup. This is why there are now more full-size models than ever on the market. If you are searching for a big truck, you may have narrowed down your selection to the Ford F-150 or Chevy Silverado 1500. While these are both good choices, you will do yourself a favor by looking for a Ford F-150 for sale near Trenton. Here are seven reasons why this is the smarter move.
More Power
If you are looking for a truck, chances are good that you want one that offers a lot of power. In this area, the F-150 shines. The base model comes with a twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 engine that generates 325 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. If you want a little more oomph, there are several optional powertrains, including a 5.0-liter V8 with 400 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque and a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 that offers 400 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. Another 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine produces 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. Top-of-the-line is a supercharged 5.2-liter high-output V8 that generates 720 hp and 640 lb-ft of torque, which is standard on the Raptor R.
The Chevy Silverado also offers a number of engine options. The base is a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder that offers 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. To get the most power and torque, you would need to go with its top 6.2-liter V8, which puts out 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, but these numbers still pale in comparison to the F-150. Another notable difference between these trucks is that the Ford comes with a standard 10-speed automatic transmission, while the Chevy has a standard eight-speed automatic.
Better Towing and Hauling Ability
Need to put your truck to work? With towing and hauling, the 2025 Ford F-150 is the class leader. It can tow up to 13,500 when properly equipped. You can really load up the bed, too, as it can haul up to 2,440 pounds. Speaking of the bed, there are three available sizes: 5.5 feet, 6.5 feet, and 8 feet. Plus, you can add a variety of features, including LED lighting, a power outlet, a spray-on bedliner, and a soft or hard cover. The Pro Access Tailgate is also available, and this enables part of the tailgate to swing open like a door.
The Silverado 1500 is also a capable truck for towing and hauling, but its numbers aren't as high as the F-150. It can tow up to 13,300 pounds when properly equipped. It offers a maximum payload of 2,260 pounds. This pickup also has three bed lengths to choose from: 5.8 feet, 6.6 feet, and 8.2 feet. While the comparable beds on the Chevy are slightly bigger, it doesn't do much to help the real-life hauling capabilities of the truck. You're better off going with the F-150 because it can handle heavier loads.
Outstanding Off-Road Prowess
One of the best attributes of the F-150 is that you can take it almost anywhere––even out on rugged terrain around Trenton. While rear-wheel drive is standard, every model can come with four-wheel drive. You could also go with an upper trim that is specially designed for off-roading. The Tremor comes with numerous amenities, including off-road tires, skid plates, a locking rear differential, front tow hooks, and off-road drive models. The Raptor trim adds a locking transfer case, heavy-duty skid plates, Fox racing shocks, and 37-inch tires. The Silverado 1500 also has off-road ability, and its ZR2 trim comes with features like skid plates and front and rear locking differentials. However, its tires measure in at just 33 inches.
Big and Spacious Cabin
Even if you never intend to tow, haul much, or take your truck off paved roads, you are going to appreciate what it offers inside. This includes a large and comfortable cabin that can fit several passengers. The Regular cab has room for three, but that increases to six with either the Super or SuperCrew cab. Space is plentiful, and all rows provide excellent head- and legroom. There are also several spots for storage throughout. The seats are supportive and well-cushioned and come with cloth upholstery, but you can opt for either synthetic or genuine leather. Several other comfort features can be added as well, including heated and ventilated front seats, driver's seat memory settings, and power-adjustable front seats.
The Chevy Silverado 1500 is also with three cabs. The Regular cab fits three people, and the Double and Crew cab can fit six. While the front seats are comfortable, some critics have noted that the back row isn't as much. Plus the standard upholstery, however, is vinyl, and you would need to upgrade to get cloth or leather.
Better Tech Features
The Ford F-150 is one tech-savvy truck. It comes with several features to help you stay connected and entertained no matter how long you may be out on the road. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as a Wi-Fi hotspot and Bluetooth, are all built-in. It also comes with satellite radio, keyless entry, and USB ports. An easy-to-operate infotainment system is also standard, and this is controlled with a 12-inch touchscreen and voice commands. Several amenities can be added, including a 12V household-style power outlet, wireless device charging, in-dash navigation, and remote start.
The Silverado 1500 has some of the same standard features, including smartphone connectivity, Bluetooth, USB ports, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. However, satellite radio would require an upgrade. In addition, its infotainment system comes with a much smaller seven-inch touchscreen.
Excellent Protection Systems
No matter where you take your 2025 F-150 in and around Trenton, you will be happy to know that it is aimed at keeping you and your passengers safe. This truck received an overall rating of five out of five stars from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and it comes with numerous safety features. These include road departure mitigation, automatic high-beam headlights, rear parking sensors, and a rearview camera. It also has a Lane-Keeping System, a Blind Spot Information System with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, a Forward Collision Warning, and Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking. There are also many systems you can add, such as Intersection Assist, a head-up display, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and front parking sensors.
Similar standard safety systems can be found in the Silverado 1500, including a Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning and Forward Collision Alert with Automatic Emergency Braking. However, if you wanted blind spot monitoring, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, or Front and Rear Park Assist, none of these are included in the base model.
